Create a Sustainable Cannabis Business Schedule

12 – 1 PM:

• Introduction to the cannabis industry and its current state (legalization, market trends, etc.)
• Identifying opportunities and niches in the industry (e.g. hemp-based products, edibles, medical cannabis, etc.)
• Developing a business plan (including funding, marketing, and legal considerations)
• Common challenges faced by new business owners in the cannabis industry and how to overcome them.

1 – 2 PM:

• Building and managing a team (hiring, training, and retaining employees)
• Compliance with local and state regulations (e.g. licensing, permits, taxes)
• Best practices for product development and quality control
• Establishing relationships with vendors and suppliers
• Strategies for scaling and expanding the business.

2 – 3 PM:

• Creating a strong brand and marketing strategy (including online presence, advertising, and customer engagement)
• Maximizing profitability and managing finances (budgeting, cash flow, and financial reporting)
• Navigating challenges specific to the cannabis industry (e.g. banking and payment processing)
• Resources for ongoing support and education in the industry.

Each student will receive the following:

• Business Plan Template – This template includes sections for market analysis, financial projections, marketing and sales strategy, and management and organization.
• Cannabis Compliance Checklist – Stay on top of the complex and ever-changing regulations in the cannabis industry.
• Product Development Worksheet – A worksheet that helps students plan out the development of their products, including the costs, materials, and processes involved in creating their products.
• Branding and Marketing Checklist – A checklist that outlines the key elements of creating a solid brand and marketing strategy, including logo design, website development, social media presence, and advertising. A comprehensive branding and marketing checklist can help students in your course create a solid and effective brand that resonates with their target audience and drives sales.
• Financial Planning Worksheet – A worksheet that helps students plan out their finances, including projected revenues, expenses, and cash flow.
• Business Launch Timeline – A timeline that outlines the key steps involved in launching a cannabis business, including research, planning, product development, and marketing. Students can use this timeline to keep themselves on track and ensure that they are meeting all of their goals and deadlines.
